Monument with international status. The unique architectural, historical, ensemble composition of Central Asia. It is located in the center of Turkestan, South Kazakhstan region. Coordinates: 43˚17.858′, 068˚16.269′. Height above sea level is 219 m. The mausoleum was built in honor of the famous Shaikh Ahmed Yassawi, the renowned saint of the Muslims, the Sultan of Sultan-ul-Garifin (the king of the saints). Ahmet Yasawi died in 1166–1167. Dozens of khan, commanders and heroes who founded the Kazakh land were buried in this mausoleum upon their request.
It is the building which is the main treasure of Turkestan of XIV–XV centuries. The masterpieces made by the masters, the burial lacquers, bronze lacquered flags, ornamental wooden doors, and the tombstones were preserved. The main record about the mausoleum of Ahmed Yasawi is found in Sharaf al-Din ali-Iazdidin's book Zafar-nama.
A huge portal-dome construction in the mausoleum of Ahmet Yassaui. Its length is 65.5 meters, its width is 46.5 meters and its height is 39 meters. The entrance to the mausoleum is located on a south-eastern side with a height of 18.2 meters. The large walls of the main facade and the corners are not wrought, and the clamps are left on the surface to accommodate mosaic packaging. The diameter of the dome is less than 18 meters, its inner height is 36 meters above the floor level. The building has a huge portal and several domes and it consists of two floors. There are 35 rooms for various purposes in the mausoleum. On the ground floor there are a Zhamatzana, a graveyard, a mosque, a library, a great palace, a small palace, a dining room, a cellar and four rooms, and on the second floor there are dining rooms.
The main hall of the architectural composition is Ahmet Yasawi's cemetery. In the middle of the room there is a large epitaphousal tombstone, which is covered with a serpentinite plate, which is represented by green rocks. There is a mosque in the north-western corner of the building. The room is covered with a high dome on the drum. The mosque is the only room in the building where fragments of wall paintings are covered with blue-colored geometric images. The mosque's mihrab is a magnificent example of mosaic art, made with glazed mosaic technique. There is a corridor called ziaranha in the south-west of the fort. There are several baskets inside the room. There is a dining room in the south-western part of the building. The room has a large oven with two boilers. The manuscripts and collections of the building's inscriptions have been preserved by the names of several masters participating in the mausoleum construction: Hoja Hassan Shirazi and Shams Abd al-Wahhabi Shirazi, Bassist's master, Isfahani ibn Tadj ad-Din Isfahani, Abd al-Aziz ibn Sharafaddin Tabrizi. In the XVII–XIX centuries mausoleum "Azret Sultan" was the Ak Orda of the Kazakh khans. In XIX century under the rule of Kokand there were built the castle tower and the mounds facing in the power in the surround of the mausoleum.
The monument was erected by the state in 1994 on the collection of "The Chronicle of Historical and Cultural Monuments of Kazakhstan" in South-Kazakhstan region, numbered 590.3. The mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yassawi was included in UNESCO's World Heritage List in 2003.The construction and history of the people, language and religion, traditions and culture studies data are invaluable.
