Pilgrimage Hall

A corridor called the polgrimage hall was located in between the burial chamber and the mosque. This gave important members of pilgrimage groups the possibility to see the saint's resting place. A wooden screen alone divided the pilgrimage hall from the burial chamber that contained Ahmad Yasawi's tomb. The room's roof was closed with a cross-design, something rarely seen in Central Asian monuments. In L. Yu. Man'kovskaya's opinion: "These roofs destinguish the building's designers as both unique and of the foremost rank".
