Yassawi Mosque

In the north-western section of the building of Khoja Ahmed Yassawi Mausoleum there is a mosque covered with a double dome. For the square base of the dome, builders used structures with intersecting arches. The main entrance to the Mosque in the corridor of julbars-khana is isolated by an arched pauper, decorated with gully stalactites at the top.

In the centre of the Mosque’s western wall, there is a unique mihrab, made in the technique of a set of carved mosaics. Inscriptions are placed in the U-shaped frame, on the cartouche and in the four cells of the mihrab stalactites. The Mosque through the corridor, julbars-khana, has exits to kitab-khana (library) and kazandyk.
