Korkyt Ata memorial complex

The complex is dedicated to a great thinker, the narrator, the kobyz player Korkyt Ata. Korkyt Ata is one of the saints of the Syr Darya region. Located at one kilometer from the Korkyt Ata burial site. A written monument confirming the historical personality of Korkyt Ata is Korkyt Ata book («Kitabi dadam Korkud»). The common heritage for the Oghuz branch of the Turks and Azerbaijanis, and the branches of the Kipchaks consider as him their ancestor. The Kazakh people know Korkyt as the ancestor of kyui. Korkyt Ata is described as a narrator, a wise man, a leader, a doctor, a performer of kyuis.

According to V.V. Bartold, «Korkyt is not a batyr, but a priest (patriarch), as the leader delivers and preserves the people’s wisdom, the whole public pays attention to his discretion». A wise man who observes the security of the people from an external enemy and internal disputes. He left the wisdom behind himself, «As long as there is life – there will be death, there is no immortal life, there is no unbending iron, everything dies, changes, forgets, and only the result of a good deed in the life of man is an unforgettable thing which lives forever».

The complex intended for the saint is turned into a cultural brand of the Kyzylorda. The complex consists of several architectural buildings, «vessels for singing» – an image of four kobyzes that faces to the four sides, when the wind blows from the vessels the sound of the kobyz is produced; «pyramid of desires,» an amphitheater, a griffin and a sheep-theproducer creating a collected image of a koshkartas, a museum. The area where the complex is located is decorated with a carpet of from the Syr Darya pebbles. This complex is a cultural, natural landscape view of the Kazakh valley. Kazakhs have the ancient saying, «Wherever you go – everywhere is the grave of Korkyt», ancestors described a philosophical view called False World. «And Korkyt died forty years fleeing from the hour of death», a poet Shal urged people for the faith with these words.

Running away from death, Korkyt still did not escape from the hour of death, played plaintively on the kobyz, and he is a person who will remain in the memory of the people as an ascetic transmitting instruction to the future generation that undying force is in art. Korkyt is a folklore and mythological person. Korkyt is called an ancestor of the healers, the poet Magzhan in his stories expresses this explicitly, because kobyz was basically an instrument of quackery. Quackery, faith in God, to consider what is a soul of the surrounding nature, that it is alive – was the spiritual support of ancestors before the religion of Islam.
